R. São Paulo da Cruz 33, 4520-249 Santa Maria da Feira

Is your child between 8 and 10 years old with a passion for dance?
This is the ideal stage to deepen their ballet technique, develop discipline, and express their artistic side with greater confidence. Our Technical Development class at Ninho das Artes is the next step in a young dancer's training.

What is learned at this stage?
Here, the work becomes more structured and challenging. Students are introduced to new elements that build their strength, precision, and grace. The focus is on:
- Introduction to Barre Work: Learning the first fundamental exercises at the barre, which are essential for alignment, strength, and balance
- Precision and Choreographic Memory: Executing more complex movement sequences in the center that challenge memory and coordination
- Jumps and Turns Technique: A controlled and safe introduction to petits allegros (small jumps) and simple pirouettes
- Artistic Expression: Working on musicality and the ability to interpret, transforming movements into a form of art

From Technique to Art
In this class, the goal is to give students the technical tools to feel more confident and free to dance. This is where discipline transforms into expression and the passion for dance takes on a new dimension.

1. My child is 8-10 years old but has never done ballet. Can they start in this class?
A: Yes, it's possible. This class welcomes new students. As it is a level that requires a greater capacity for concentration and introduces a more structured technique, our teachers are experienced in integrating students with different skill levels, ensuring that everyone can keep up and progress.

2. What is the main difference from the previous class (6-7 years)?
A: The main difference is the focus on technical development. While the previous class solidifies the fundamentals of posture and musicality, this one begins to build the strength, precision, and choreographic memory required for more complex movement sequences.

3. Do students need to have a specific level of flexibility to join?
A: No. Flexibility is a skill that is developed gradually with regular and correct training. The classes include specific exercises to improve flexibility safely, always respecting each child's physical limits. The most important thing is the willingness to learn.

4. Is pointe work introduced at this stage?
A: No. Pointe work is only introduced much later, typically from the age of 12, once the bone and muscle structure of the foot is sufficiently developed. The safety and healthy development of our students are our highest priority.

5. What happens when a student turns 11?
A: After this stage, the student will be prepared to transition to our next ballet class, for ages 10-12, where they will continue their technical development with exercises and challenges appropriate for their age and abilities.
