Is your young dancer, aged 10 to 12, ready to take their passion for dance to the next level?
This is a transitional phase, where dedication transforms into art and technique becomes more refined. This intermediate-level class is designed to deepen their knowledge of classical ballet and challenge students to reach their full potential.
What is the focus at this stage?
We move beyond the fundamentals and focus on refinement. The work becomes more demanding and rewarding, with an emphasis on:
- Barre and Center Technique: Executing more complex exercises at the barre and choreographic sequences in the center that develop strength, stamina, and precision of movement.
- Turns and Jumps (Allegro): Refining pirouette technique and introducing more elaborate jump sequences (petit and grand allegro).
- Musicality and Artistry: Work focused on musical interpretation, allowing the student to not just execute steps, but to dance with emotion and intention.
- Pre-Pointe Preparation: Introduction to specific foot and ankle strengthening exercises, preparing students who wish to (and are technically ready) for future pointe work.
Discipline That Becomes Passion
At this age, ballet becomes a powerful tool for development. Students learn the value of rigor, discipline, and perseverance, applying that dedication to an art form that strengthens their self-esteem and capacity for expression.
