1. Do I need a partner to sign up?
A: Not at all! The vast majority of students sign up individually. Classes work with a partner rotation system, which makes the learning experience richer and is a great way to meet new people in a relaxed environment.
2. I have never danced in my life. Will I be able to keep up?
A: Yes, absolutely. Beginner classes start from zero, with simple steps taught in a clear and progressive way. The environment is relaxed and pressure-free — the only requirement is the desire to have fun.
3. What is the difference between the afro-latin dances I will learn?
A: Simply put: Salsa is more energetic and technical, with lots of turns; Bachata is more sensual and romantic, with hip movement; Kizomba is more intimate and connected, a dance of close embrace; Semba is the root of Kizomba, livelier and more animated; and Merengue is the most accessible rhythm to start with. In class you will discover which style is your favourite!
4. Can I try a trial class before signing up?
A: Yes! The first class is free and with no commitment whatsoever. It is the ideal opportunity to get to know the space, the teachers and feel the rhythm before deciding to sign up. Simply contact us and show up.
5. What is the cost of registration and insurance?
A: Registration and insurance cost €20, paid directly at the school at the time of enrolment. This is a one-off cost and is not charged monthly.
6. Do classes run throughout the year or by term?
A: Classes run throughout the school year. Contact us to find out the start dates and current calendar.
7. What happens if I miss a class?
A: We understand that unexpected things happen. While replacement classes cannot be guaranteed, we recommend letting the school know about your absence so that the best possible solution can be found.
8. What footwear should I wear?
A: The most important thing is to wear comfortable shoes with a smooth sole that does not grip the floor — avoid rubber soles like those on trainers. Leather or suede-soled shoes are ideal. Over time, the teacher may advise on more specific dance footwear.
9. Where is the school and is there parking?
A: The school is located at Rua Dr. Alcides Strecht Monteiro 39, 4520-161 Santa Maria da Feira. There are parking options nearby. If you have difficulty finding it, contact us via WhatsApp.
