1. What is the duration of the classes and how many times per week are recommended?
A: Ballet classes for 10-year-old children (Grade 2) last about 1 hour. It is recommended to attend 1 to 2 times per week to consolidate technique and keep up with the progression of this level.
2. What makes Ballet Grade 2 different from Grade 1?
A: In Grade 2, students already show greater technical maturity, allowing for more demanding work at the barre and in the center, with focus on strength, alignment, coordination, and advanced musicality. Choreographic sequences also become more complex and challenging.
3. What are the main benefits of ballet at age 10?
A: At this age, ballet reinforces discipline, concentration, and self-confidence, improves flexibility, posture, and muscular strength, develops choreographic memory, and stimulates artistic expression on stage.
4. What is the recommended uniform for this age group?
A: It is recommended that children wear a leotard, tights, and full-sole ballet slippers. Hair should be tied in a bun, ensuring discipline, safety, and comfort during classes.
5. Are pointe shoes used in Grade 2?
A: No. Pointe shoes are not used in Grade 2. They are only introduced at more advanced levels, once there is sufficient bone maturity and consolidated technique.
6. How many students are usually in each class?
A: Classes are usually small, between 8 and 12 students, to ensure individual attention and high-quality teaching.
7. Can ballet at age 10 also help with school performance?
A: Yes. Ballet improves focus, discipline, and memory, skills that have a positive effect on organization and academic performance.
8. Is it possible to attend a trial class before enrolling?
A: Yes. A trial class can be scheduled, subject to availability, so that the child and parents can get to know the space, teachers, and methodology.
9. What is included in the class fee?
A: The monthly plan includes only the regular classes. Registration and insurance are handled directly at the school at the time of enrollment.
10. Is ballet suitable for shy or very active children?
A: Yes. Shy children gain expression and confidence, while very active children learn to channel energy, focus, and follow rules.
11. Are there performances or showcases at this age?
A: Yes. In Grade 2, students may participate in presentations and showcases, which help them gain stage experience and share their progress with family.
12. How does progression work after Grade 2?
A: After this stage, children move on to Ballet Grade 3 (age 11), where technique is further reinforced and movements become more complex and demanding.
