1. What is the duration of the classes and the recommended frequency?
A: Contemporary dance classes for children aged 10 to 12 last approximately 60 minutes. The recommended frequency is 1 time per week to ensure consistent progress in technique, coordination, and stage confidence.
2. How do contemporary dance classes at this age differ from the previous stage (7–9 years)?
A: Between the ages of 10 and 12, children already show greater motor maturity and focus. This allows for the exploration of more complex choreographic sequences, the introduction of guided improvisation, structured group work, and a deeper understanding of rhythm and spatial awareness.
3. What are the main benefits of contemporary dance for children aged 10–12?
A: Contemporary dance improves posture, flexibility, coordination, and physical strength. It stimulates creativity, discipline, and improvisation skills, strengthens self-confidence, and encourages socialization. It also enhances concentration and memory, which positively impact academic performance.
4. Is previous dance experience required?
A: No. Classes are open to beginners as well as children who have already practiced ballet, hip hop, or other dance styles. The methodology adapts to each student’s level, ensuring integration and progression for all.
5. What specific skills are developed in class?
A: Children develop body expression, creative improvisation, choreographic memory, musicality, body awareness, discipline, and teamwork. There is also space for artistic interpretation and the creation of original movements.
6. What uniform or equipment is needed?
A: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement is recommended (leggings, wide pants or leotard, and t-shirt). Classes are usually practiced barefoot or with non-slip socks. Bringing a water bottle is also advised.
7. How many students are usually in each class?
A: Classes are kept small to ensure close supervision, allowing each child to receive individual attention and appropriate technical guidance.
8. How do these classes benefit children’s school and social life?
A: Contemporary dance develops discipline, memory, concentration, and creativity — skills that support academic performance. Socially, it encourages collaboration, empathy, and self-confidence, strengthening interpersonal relationships.
9. Is it possible to take a trial class before enrolling?
A: Yes. Families can schedule a trial class (subject to availability) to experience the studio, meet the teachers, and understand the teaching methodology.
10. What is the natural progression after the age of 12?
A: After this stage, students can move on to the 13–15 level, where they work on more challenging choreographies, advanced improvisation, and greater artistic maturity.
11. Are there performances or events for this age group?
A: Yes. The school regularly organizes shows, auditions, and end-of-year presentations, giving children the opportunity to perform on stage and share their progress with their families.
