Who are the classes for?
For all ages from 7 years old and all levels — from complete beginners to surfers who want to improve. Classes last 1h30 and are organised in small groups by level and age — ensuring close support and fast, safe progression. Available every day, including weekends and public holidays, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

About Fisherman Surf School
Fisherman Surf School is the leading surf school in Vila Nova de Gaia, founded in 2006, with daily classes all year round at Canide Sul Beach. With a team of instructors with degrees in Physical Education and Sport and accredited by the Portuguese Surf Federation, and more than 30 years of experience teaching surfing in the North of Portugal, it offers Surf, Bodyboard and Stand Up Paddle classes for all ages from 7 years old. 1. Is prior experience required to take surf lessons?
A: No. Classes are available for all levels — from complete beginners to surfers who want to improve. Groups are organised by level and age, ensuring each student progresses at their own pace in a safe and effective way.
2. From what age can students take surf lessons?
A: Classes are available from age 7. The school has specific programmes for children, young people and adults — always with small groups and close support from accredited instructors.
3. What is included in the price of the classes?
A: All classes include a board adjusted to the student's level and a quality wetsuit. There is no need to bring any equipment — just show up.
4. How long is each class?
A: Each class lasts 1h30 — enough time for warm-up, technique on land and practice in the sea.
5. What timetables are available?
A: Classes are available every day — including weekends and public holidays — from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. To book, contact us directly via WhatsApp or through the WOU registration form.
6. Where do the classes take place?
A: Classes take place at Canide Sul Beach, in Vila Nova de Gaia — one of the best surf spots in the North of Portugal, with ideal conditions for beginners and intermediate surfers.

A: Yes. Fisherman Surf School also offers Bodyboard and Stand Up Paddle classes — including tours on the Douro Estuary, a privileged spot with a unique view of the cities of Porto and Gaia.
