The Contemporary Dance Classes for students aged 15 and above in Penafiel are perfect for those who wish to explore dance in a deeper, more technical, and meaningful way.

In this creative and inspiring environment, students develop intermediate and advanced technical skills, such as core control, weight transfers, floor work, and spatial awareness. 1. What is the duration of the classes and the recommended frequency?
A: Classes last around 60 minutes. A frequency of 1 to 2 times per week is recommended to ensure consistent progress in technique, improvisation, and stage presence.

2. How do these classes differ from the 12–14 age group?
A: From the age of 15 onwards, students already have the physical and cognitive maturity to explore more complex techniques, such as advanced floor work, more demanding movement dynamics, contact/weight sharing, and autonomous choreographic composition. Greater emphasis is placed on artistic interpretation and the development of an individual creative identity.

3. What are the main benefits of contemporary dance at this stage?
A: It improves strength, mobility, flexibility, and physical endurance; promotes discipline, focus, and self-confidence; develops creativity and improvisation skills; contributes to stress management and emotional balance; and strengthens social skills through group work.

4. Is previous dance experience required?
A: It is not mandatory. Classes welcome both beginner adults and young people, as well as students coming from ballet, hip hop, or other dance styles. The teacher adapts the methodology to each participant’s level.

5. What specific skills are developed in class?
A: Core control, weight transfers, floor work, advanced musicality, guided improvisation, choreographic composition, artistic interpretation, and stage presence.

6. What clothing or equipment is recommended?
A: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement (leggings, wide pants, leotard, and t-shirt). Classes are usually practiced barefoot or with non-slip socks. Bringing a water bottle is also recommended.

7. What is the average class size?
A: Classes are kept small to allow for individualized guidance and detailed technical supervision, while still maintaining collective and collaborative work.

8. Do these classes prepare students for performances or auditions?
A: Yes. In addition to improving technique and interpretation, classes include choreographic preparation and rehearsals that help students face auditions, school performances, showcases, or competitions.

9. Is it possible to take a trial class before enrolling?
A: Yes. The school offers trial classes, subject to booking and availability, so that prospective students can experience the studio, meet the teachers, and understand the methodology.

10. What is the progression after this level?
A: After 15, students can move on to advanced levels and pre-professional dance programs, with intensive training, more demanding choreographic creation, and preparation for auditions or artistic careers.

11. Are there performances or events for students over 15?
A: Yes. The school regularly organizes shows, showcases, and annual events, giving students the opportunity to perform on stage, share their progress, and gain real performance experience.
